    John Henry Newman will be canonised on Sunday 13th October in Rome by Pope Francis.

    John Henry Newman - (21 February 1801 – 11 August 1890) was a theologian and poet, first an Anglican priest and later a Catholic priest and cardinal, who was an important figure in the religious history of England in the 19th century.

    He was born in London and died in Birmingham. His motto was 'Heart speaks to Heart' and he is remembered for being kind and compassionate to the people of Birmingham. He spent most of the time helping the poor and the sick.

    He founded the Birmingham Oratory in 1849.

    Pope Francis will lead a very special Mass on Sunday 13th October where John Henry Newman will be declared a Saint.
