HOLY WEEK - our journey before - our reflections

    3 April 2022 (by admin)

Palm Sunday is the start of HOLY WEEK (it happens after we break up) - it will be an important week for the children in our Catholic school. We will be deepening our understanding of our FAITH next week on a very special journey before HOLY WEEK.

Holy Week begins with the laying down of palm leaves on PALM SUNDAY and ends with HOLY SATURDAY, the day before EASTER SUNDAY. Holy Week includes Holy Thursday (also known as Maundy Thursday) and Good Friday, which, together with Holy Saturday, are known as Triduum (a period of three days' special observance).

As a school community, we will be thinking of this very special week as we commence STATIONS of the CROSS - staff members will be leading children in daily prayer.

What are STATIONS of the CROSS?

The Stations of the Cross are a 14-step Catholic devotion that commemorates Jesus Christ's last day on Earth as a man. The 14 devotions, or stations, focus on specific events of His last day, beginning with His condemnation. The stations are commonly used as a mini pilgrimage as the individual moves from station to station. At each station, the individual recalls and meditates on a specific event from Christ's last day. Specific prayers are recited, then the individual moves to the next station until all 14 are complete.

This will be our journey, our faith and our love for Christ during the school week.
