    RECEPTION/YEAR 6 - STAGGERED OPENING

    1 June 2020 (by admin)

Some parents are sending their children into St. Bernard's Catholic Primary School commencing Thursday 4th and Friday 5th June 2020. This is part of our staggered reopening and the national easing of lockdown.

This initially will be for RECEPTION & YEAR 6 PARENTS/CHILDREN ONLY. You MUST let us know if your child will be in school. As stated previously, due to ongoing uncertainty with the coronavirus virus situation, the majority of parents are keeping their child/children away/off school till further notice or when it is deemed safe to return to school. IT IS YOUR CHOICE PARENTS BUT YOU MUST LET US KNOW. Of course we are putting measures in place to make things safer - our previous correspondence has addressed this. However we cannot guarantee a NO ZERO RISK ENVIRONMENT. We are doing our best in very difficult and challenging times.

PLEASE NOTE staggered start times (THURSDAY 4th JUNE):

Year 6 can arrive on-site between 8.50am and 9am. Year 6 will finish school at 3.15pm.

Reception can arrive on-site between 9.15am and 9.30am and will finish school at 2.45pm.

More information will follow later today concerning staggered reopening of school and expectations/instructions. Mr O'Leary and Mr Stephenson will be guiding parents/children at drop-off/pick up times. Please note that, for obvious reasons, only 1 adult will be allowed to drop-off/pick-up their child. it's all about minimising the risk element. There will be no face to face (1:1) contact/meetings with staff members.

Thank you for your continued understanding. I'm sure you appreciate it is indeed an evolving situation because some schools are opening, some are not reopening yet, some local authorities have stopped their schools from reopening due to major safety concerns - it is a mixed educational scene. The virus risk cannot be eliminated or eradicated I'm afraid, it's about schools trying to minimise the virus risk!

At St. Bernard's we are looking at this as an evolving schedule - initially we are phasing in RECEPTION & YEAR 6 and once we have risk assessed this process, we will be looking to phase YEAR 1 into the scheduling from 15th June.
