House Points

Purpose and Rationale

The house points system aims to promote positive behaviour, teamwork, and school values. It encourages pupils to strive for excellence, collaborate effectively, and take pride in their achievements.

At Bernard's, every pupil and staff member is assigned to a House upon starting at school. The House System is designed to embody the values and ethos of our school and is an integral part of our school community. It’s about being One Family.

We believe the House System, along with other ambassador roles, empowers our pupils to have a meaningful voice in school-wide decision-making. The House system allows for the promotion of pupil’s responsibility through the role of house captains and vice-captains.

One of its greatest strengths is the opportunity it provides for pupils of all ages to work together. This creates a cohesive environment where friendships and collaboration thrive, regardless of age.

Our school house system also strengthens connections between pupils and staff, fostering a sense of belonging. It encourages interaction across year groups, from the youngest to the most senior members of our school, while nurturing a friendly competitive spirit.

Pupils are divided into houses, each with a name and colour (red, green, yellow and blue)
