We are writing to inform you that, following careful consideration, we have made the difficult decision to cancel our Sports Day scheduled for Thursday 9th July due to the high temperatures currently forecast for that day.
The health, safety and wellbeing of our children, families and staff must always be our priority. Given the nature of the event and the extended periods of time participants and spectators would spend outdoors, we do not feel it would be safe to proceed under the predicted conditions.
We wanted to provide parents with as much notice as possible to help with any arrangements that may have been made. We appreciate that this news will be disappointing, particularly as many children have been looking forward to the event and families have made plans to attend.
Unfortunately, our ability to rearrange Sports Day is restricted by the availability of Moseley School's facilities and the limited dates available to us at this stage of the academic year. As a result, we are currently unable to offer an alternative date.
We share your frustration and disappointment. Sports Day is always a highlight of the school year and an important opportunity to celebrate participation, teamwork and achievement. We know how much the children enjoy taking part and how much families enjoy supporting them.
Following this year's challenges, we will be reviewing our approach to Sports Day for the next academic year, including contingency planning for adverse weather conditions, to help minimise the likelihood of similar disruption in the future.
