SAFETY AWARENESS - WALKING HOME after school

    5 June 2026 (by admin)

After-School Safety, Supervision, and Behaviour Expectations. It has been brought to our attention that on a couple of occasions, some children have been behaving in an inappropriate manner, as they journey home.

We take all concerns regarding pupil safety and behaviour very seriously. While pupils are dismissed at the end of the school day, we expect that:                                                                                    Parental Responsibility & Supervision - pupils are dismissed, responsibility for their supervision passes to parents/carers. It is expected that appropriate arrangements are in place to ensure children are safely collected or fully supervised on their journey home. Adult supervision is absolutely key - the Wake Green Rd area can be a unpredictable and dangerous road, cars can sometimes be parked in dangerous places. Please be vigilant.

Safe Travel Home - our pupils should follow agreed arrangements for travelling home, whether collected by a known adult or walking with appropriate adult supervision, taking into account their age and maturity. Behaviour Expectations Beyond School Gates - we fully expect all pupils to continue to represent the school positively when leaving the premises.

This includes: showing respect towards others, avoiding antisocial behaviour, including name-calling, acting responsibly within the local community.

    Responding to Concerns

The school will follow up any reported incidents to: address behaviour directly with the pupil(s) involved, liaise with parents/carers where appropriate, reinforce expectations around conduct and safety when travelling to and from school

We appreciate concerns being shared and will always take appropriate steps to ensure both pupil safety and the reputation of the school within the community are upheld.

    Thank you parents.
