THE JOURNEY of LENT on the HORIZON13 February 2026 (by admin) |
We celebrated a lovely Mass this week in school, led by Father Gerry...thinking about LENTEN horizons. LENT starts next week on Wednesday 18th February 2026.
During Lent, Christians focus on prayer, fasting, and almsgiving (giving to charity) to prepare for Easter - it's all about reflecting on Jesus' sacrifcie, and deepening spiritual lives through self-denial, increased prayer, and acts of service, with practices like attending Church and reflecting on daily scripture.
In St. Bernard's Catholic Primary School it will be a most special and spiritual time - so many different events and activities planned for our children.
Lent is 40 days long.
A reminder of Christ's 40 days in the wilderness.
A reminder of Christ's defeat of temptation.
Purple is the colour of the Church during Lent. It will be displayed on our school altar - a reminder of Christ's passion and the sovereignty He claimed through His suffering and resurrection.
It will be a journey for us all - a journey of penance, repentance, and renewal for us all.
