PLEASE BE EXTRA VIGILANT - IMPORTANT NOTICE

    24 April 2024 (by admin)

Sadly, school had to call the police yesterday after school. A member of the school staff was the victim of an attempted robbery. The incident took place on Green Road (just before the 'ford crossing bridge'). The incident took place at 4pm.

We certainly do not want to scaremonger parents, but it needs to be stated that 'extra vigilance' is needed around school. The police mentioned it also. It is a sad state of affairs when a school establishment has to inform parents about incidents like this. Desperately upsetting for the staff member concerned and for the wider school community. It happened in broad daylight and the police now have a clear description of the offender.

Police were quickly on the school premises, took statements, supported the staff member, and are now furthering their enquiries and investigations.

We are very conscious that some of our older children (upper key stage 2) walk home independently. Some Y6 children also carry mobile phones in their possession so they can contact their parents. The visibility of mobile phones can sadly be an attraction for a thief.

PLEASE SPEAK TO YOUR CHILD ABOUT SAFETY and VIGILANCE.

You may also want to talk to them about their route home, personal safety, and general road awareness.

Thank you parents. We felt it important to notify you as soon as possible.
