ORGANISE YOUR KNOWLEDGE
Know what to learn! Know what you're doing! Know it and remember it!
THINK like a scientist! THINK like a mathematician! THINK like a historian!
THINK like a reader! THINK like a writer! THINK like a geographer, an artist, a designer!
THINK, KNOW and REMEMBER MORE!

This is the St. Bernard's 'BANK of KNOWLEDGE' zone...
At. St. Bernard's Catholic Primary School we are continually in the process of focusing on the content of our ambitious whole curriculum to ensure that there is a much greater emphasis on the 'powerful knowledge' that children need in order to truly understand concept.
A KNOWLEDGE ORGANISER (KO) sets out in detail what we want children to know by heart by the end of the topic. We expect the majority of children to be able to recall all of the information on the KO by the end of the unit of work. During their topic the children will take part in regular assessment quizzes and formative assessment tasks that help stretch their long-term memory and develop their recall of key information.
This year we will be producing KNOWLEDGE ORGANISERS which are the 'go-to' documents outlining essential knowledge that the teachers will be covering across a unit of work; including key dates, famous figures, vocabulary, definitions and other useful information. These KO's will be shared with pupils, parents and carers before units of work are taught - with the aim that everyone knows exactly what is being taught, and what the children need to learn.
All KNOWLEDGE ORGANISERS will be uploaded onto the school website in the CURRICULUM SECTION/KNOWLEDGE ORGANISERS and can be fully accessed to help support with homework etc.
We ask that parents read through these KNOWLEDGE ORGANISERS at home with their children. It is also a very useful for children to look at previous KNOWLEDGE ORGANISERS and revise these sop that the information from previous learning is not forgotten. Every little helps!
ORGANISING KNOWLEDGE and BANKING IT!
'Knowing stuff is cool!'
At St. Bernard's we're developing the pupils' knowledge of themselves as learners, of strategies and of tasks. It's all about how we THINK and how we use our KNOWLEDGE (metacognition processes)
